I like to write. I like to rhyme. I like poetry. Most of these pieces I already performed because I love spoken word. Hope you appreciate. (images on this page are not my own)

Dressing Room

Dressing Room by Richard Perez

No room for error
As she grabs her keys and leaves the room of her dresser
Spent two hours just looking at herself in the mirror
She’s her only judge, nobody else can convince her
That she’s worth more than the few hundred that she makes
Worth more than the breasts and the ass that she shakes
For the guy she looks for to take her back to his place
To make enough money for her daily dose of cocaine
She loves to smile because it helps her hide her pain
But she’s hiding from herself, hide and seek, one and the same
Her clients love hide and seek, their most favorite game
They find her, she rides them, she screams their name
And if she makes it back to her dressing room, success
She survived another night of abuse and the roughest sex
Another bruise, another scratch, another ripped dress
Another morning, another day, another night comes next
The room for her dressing is often her room for confession
Where she stares at her own beautiful reflection
She doesn’t speak a word it’s her eyes that talk and listen
She’s alone, no family, no friends, except her cocaine connection
Another blowjob, another job for the blow
Another glimpse of heaven going right up her nose
Another night of feeling good from her head to her toes
Happiness, yes it is temporary, she already knows
We are all the same with all the same goal
Just all trying to be happy, nothing less, nothing more
So ask yourself why are you judging her for
She’s analogous to you, flesh to flesh, soul to soul
