I like to write. I like to rhyme. I like poetry. Most of these pieces I already performed because I love spoken word. Hope you appreciate. (images on this page are not my own)

The Genius

The Genius by Richard Perez

He was better than he was thought to be. When comparing him to others logically, he was probably a prodigy. The best there ever was, and that’s talking modestly. But he never heard how he ought to be so his qualities never got to be seen above the others. Instead he was blended in with all the other colors, and he became just a shade of gray on a thin canvas. He was a boy raised in deep wackness. He was a genius at a cheap campus. The fact is he was like a superstar athlete who never got to practice. He did not lack a lot, but he did lack this: love from his parents. Sure they fed him, but their absence is coherent. Try living life with no motivation. You don’t die, just like preservation, but you don’t live either. He couldn’t reach higher than the little that he desired, and all that was in store for him was thrown into the fire. The successful fate he had so possible turned out to be so easily destructible. Like a cocoon never opening up to something beautiful.
